    Dimah,

I just started a blog and really came to yours to learn. You are listed in top growing blog and I liked the name very much… soothing. Thought I would reply while I am here. As far as ideas for your gift to a friend, books are treasure, in my opinion. I recently read a very good book “A Thousand Splendid Suns” by Khaled Hosseini (author of Kite Runners) about the lives of two Afghanistan women. It was tragic, but honest and mostly what I took away from it was how minuscule my own suffering was as compared to others in this world and the beauty of women period. Under duress, the harshest of conditions, even horrific pain we somehow find a way and many times reach out to help others. I can’t know what your social/political viewpoint concerning Afghanistan might be but from a human perspective I think it is an eye opener worth sharing. A lighter read but no less profound is “The Five People We Meet in Heaven” by Mitch Albom which illustrates the impact we each, in our tiny daily acts, unknowingly have on each other. Be well. : ) ANGELa

Hi Dimah! Well, I made these cookies and they are fabulous–they lasted about ten minutes in my house. I think it’s so funny that I found out about a U.S. company’s website (King Arthur Flour) from a baker in Syria. What an amazing world we live in. :-D Thank you and I look forward to trying more of your recipes.

    Best regards,
